About fuoco

Toronto 2018, tied by Tifereth

I began my rope journey as a bottom in Phoenix in 2012 and shortly thereafter moved to London, where much of my early rope learning happened. Upon moving back to the US, I began presenting at cons and intensives around the country, while regularly returning to Europe to further my education. My career as a bondage practitioner, teacher, and performer grew alongside my career as a professional acrobat and movement specialist. I’ve trained extensively in partner acrobatics, contortion, and hair hanging, and through these disciplines I’ve developed a keen sense of how to explore intensity in sustainable ways and what it means for two bodies to be in conversation with one another. I’ve studied with top practitioners from Japan and Europe, while cultivating my own approach informed by my multiple disciplinary background.

I believe that kink is inherently political. and I strive to bring my politics, my values, and an accountability for those values into my teaching spaces. I don’t believe that there is anything inherently healing about a bondage practice, but I honor and hold the capacity for healing to take place within a container that acknowledges the personal, collective, and ancestral traumas of white supremacist capitalist patriarchy. I live and practice in Northampton, MA on Pocumtuck land.

Learn

I offer two weekend-long intensive formats and a large number of one-off classes. I’m available to travel for teaching, and interested communities should email me to discuss details!

I also offer private tuition and tying sessions out of my home studio in Northampton, MA. I’m available for in-person tuition and some virtual teaching (though I’m particular about what sort of topics I’ll teach on zoom, as there are some things that I don’t believe translate virtually). Most of my teaching centers around body mechanics and the physical experience of being in rope. As a bottoming educator, I’m interested in creating opportunities for bottoms to better understand their bodies in rope. As a rigging educator, I’m interested in helping riggers to move away from tying patterns and towards tying bodies with all of their uniqueness and complexity.

For riggers:

  • Beginners through transitional suspension

  • Harness troubleshooting and customization

  • Tension and rope handling skills

  • Learning to see anatomy and tie your partner, not a pattern

For rope bottoms:

  • Harness troubleshooting and customization

  • Bottom-lead rope experiences

  • Learning rope skills for better communication and vetting

For educators:

  • Consults for curriculum development
